| Dogs - The Guardians |
Guardians are necessary to protect livestock from predators. We use guardian dogs and llamas to protect our flock against dogs and coyotes. The guardian dogs also keep white tailed deer that carry deadly ticks and diseases out of the pastures. |

Guardian dogs, especially when young, do well in pairs. When the dogs are playing rough-house dog games with each other, they tend not to play with the livestock. Their vigorous play helps them grow strong, and stay healthy. Dog play also teaches them valuable fighting skills they may need later in life. We have also observed older dogs teaching fighting techniques to the puppy it is paired with. Below are Zeus and Zena that make up the "Z" team. |
